Cleaning Garden Shears

Before cleaning

Living in Southern California, where gardening chores literally never end, I tend to forget to take good care of some of my tools, as they are always in use…No excuse!

I cleaned mine by filling a glass bowl with hot water in my kitchen sink and using a wire brush I bought at Osh Hardware, I scrubbed and scrubbed until the rust and grime came off.

I dried the shears and sprayed the ingenious WD40 on the blades and hinges, which prevents future rust from building, and close easily without sticking. I gave the shears a nice wipe down, and then I was done. I am now going to tend to the rest of my tools…
